Over on tumblr, LetsDrawSPN is hosting a movie poster challenge to create a poster for SPN based on one for a feature length movie.  I made one but I'm scared of tumblr so I wanted to posted it here first.

Poster based on Rosemary's Baby.... )

I got to see the movie Argo tonight.  It was directed and starred in by Ben Affleck.  The movie is based on the true story of a CIA operative working to get 6 US embassy staff members out of Iran after they escaped when the rest of the staff were taken hostage.

Possible spoiler if you haven't seen promos. )

Plenty of suspense and the pacing was pretty good.  It was cool to see a movies set in 1979 with the clothes and hairstyles as well as the cars that I remember pretty well from being a kid. If you get to see it, stay through the credits because they put the pictures of the real people that the story was about up side by side with the actors who played them.

Also one great cap from SPN 8.03 because I didn't want to wait until I have the recap pulled together.

Minor spoiler... )

So there's this site on Tumblr (I don't know...it's like Twitter with pictures?) called Jared Padalecki in Places He Shouldn't Be.  I figured it was a good excuse to learn to use Gimp.  So here's the result.  I only submitted the first one to the Tumblr site.  The kid thought it looked fun and so the Sound of Music ones were a combined effort.

Our work.... )

Warm wishes to anyone commemorating Anzac Day, a day of remembrance for those in Australia and New Zealand.  The only bits I know about the actual WWI events that this day initially remembered came from a song by Eric Bogle, And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda.   Sometimes it's played in the US around Memorial Day by radio shows featuring folk music.  You can watch Eric sing it in concert here.  It's been covered by lots of folks including the Pogues.

With the Easter holiday, I haven't been able comment about the last couple episodes of SPN.  I've liked them both. They've been a good mix of funny and advancing the plot.

Cut for SPN spoilers )

With the Easter holiday, I had the Kid about the house a bit more.  We saw a Master and Commander video by [info]swiss_kun using the Numa Numa song.  The Kid has insisted upon repeated viewings and now I have this stuck in my head.  In a list of related videos, we found a fan vid for the same movie using the Discovery Channel's Boom De Yada ad song.  Between these two of lovely tunes, I will be looney by this evening, if not already.  In case you'd like to tread the same path....
